Cuban-Style Turkey Meatballs
Ingredients
1 pound ground turkey
1 large egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
¼ cup finely diced onion
¼ cup finely diced green bell pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Avocado oil, for frying
Instructions
Add the ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cilantro, seasonings into a large bowl.
Gently mix everything together. Avoid overmixing so the meatballs stay tender.
Shape the mixture into approximately 16 small meatballs. Place them in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
Add enough avocado oil to lightly cover the bottom of a large skillet. Heat it over medium heat.
Fry the meatballs in batches for approximately 8–10 minutes, turning them carefully until all sides are browned and the centers reach 165°F.
Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil.
